Our client creates embedded systems used in the automotive industry, the reliability of which determines driver safety and comfort. The embedded software in automotive systems requires constant modification and improvement in order to respond to the changing needs and expectations of demanding customers. The Polish branch of our client’s company was looking for a partner with the competencies to refactor all software modules and perform high-quality unit and integration tests. The partner’s task was to support the client’s teams working on the validation of head-up displays (HUDs) in cars of manufacturers from Great Britain, Japan, Germany, and Sweden.
Solwit provided a complete five-person engineering team consisting of a leader, developers, and testers. The team was composed of engineers with unique competencies, experienced in creating embedded safety-critical software. Their knowledge and skills not only supplemented the missing competencies of the client’s team but also provided consulting support, such as recommendations regarding activities and processes for creating and testing HUD software. Furthermore, the Solwit team worked in accordance with the internal culture of our client’s company, and on the client’s specific tools and processes.
Within the cooperation, Solwit team carried out the development of selected functionalities of the HUD platform and refactored the code of selected functionalities. Our team also participated in creating the architecture of selected functionalities and tests of the platform. A test infrastructure was prepared and about 16,000 unit tests, HMI tests, and integration tests were performed. The processes for creating all of the above-mentioned tests were comprehensively documented. Also the documentation describing the safety test development processes was delivered in part. The team leader also provides active support in the area of cybersecurity tests.
